about

I have re-mastered this audio, and it's sounding better than any version it I have heard before ...
Both Jon Povey and myself were ‘Fenmen’ before we were 'Pretty Things'. By 1966, (when this recording was made), I had been writing songs for a good few years, and in that time I had managed to cobble together quite a few B-sides and suchlike, but when producer Jim Econimides heard this song of mine : “Rejected” - he instantly declared that this was an ‘A-side’ - I was so proud, I couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear for days ! Unfortunately Jim didn’t like my voice much (in fact not many people did in those days ! - I had to wait until I was a ‘Pretty Thing’, before I got to step up to the microphone to take a lead vocal all on my own). So the job of singing the lead vocal on this one went to Jon Povey, and to be fair, I thought he did a good job on it !
